Jane let her friend Scarlet into the house, cutting through
the kitchen to get to the living room. Jane stopped short when she reached the
doorway between the two rooms, then let out an annoyed sigh.
“What is it?” said Scarlet, giving her blonde friend a
curious look.
Jane shook her head and continued through to the door. She
motioned off to the right. “Mom has Blake in time out again.”
Scarlet’s eyes widened, and she hurried through the door,
eager to see.
